Congrats to Sister & Mr. Jones!

In case you haven't heard, my younger sister Sarah and Mr. Jones are getting married July 18th! As if that news wasn't exciting enough, they have also just found out that they will be expecting their first child on January 9th, 2010.

Pole is very excited about his new baby cousin. He already has 3 cousins (Nick, Ben & Ruby), but it will be fun to have one so close in age (~14 months apart).

She is looking for name suggestions, so please drop her a comment if you have any ideas. (So far Steve has suggested: Big Tuna, Black Cherry, and Linc.....really not all that helpful)

The pole can now move from a sitting position to laying on his belly in a 1/2 pushup position. He can also roll from his stomach to his back.

On Wednesday morning before work, we had the pole in his crib practicing his "roll". Here are 3 videos of his separate attempts.

Per Opa's Request - a belated Tadpole Update

First of all I would like to thank my dad (also known as Opa to the pole) for making the effort to check in and read this blog. He was kind enough to remind me that I haven't updated it in a while....so here is the latest info:

• 5/17 (Sunday) at 2 am we had to take the baby to the ER b/c of his cough. They stuck some tylenol in his bum and sent us home. We used the nebulizer for the week and his cough has improved greatly. We are currently not using the neb...but Lord knows we might have to start it again at anytime.
• 5/23 (Saturday) Steve stayed home to work on the house, and I took the pole to a fancy petting zoo sponsored by his daycare. We drove with one of his teachers and her 2 year old daughter....I think pole enjoyed having someone his own size in the backseat. He did really well at the zoo, except towards the end when he was tired and we were in Llama territory. I really can't blame him. Llama's have freaky eyes.
• Last week I learned that his teachers have given him a new nickname. Wanna guess? Go ahead...I'll give you a minute to think. I'll even give you a hint. Its 2 words, and the 2nd word is his first name. Not sure? You can take a little more time if you need it. Dddooooodeeedooooodoooo doooo deeee doooo......still no answer? ok....here it is......."Motorboatin Gavin". Huh? What? If you are slightly unclear as to why this may be, imagine a small child grabbing his teachers around the neck, thrusting his face into their cleavage and shaking his head back and forth. Yeah....my boy has a boob fetish.
• Last night the pole rolled from his stomach to his back 5 times. Each time took a few minutes and was a true feat of nature.
• We are pretty sure his first tooth is coming in. There is something sharp in his mouth (I would do a visual confirmation except he bites anyone who puts their hands in his mouth
• Last night we played a new game called shuffleboard pole. Steve and I stood at opposite sides of our long drive way and pushed the pole back and forth to each other in his race car. He loved zooming along by himself, and there seemed to be a direct correlation to an increase in speed and an increase in his laughter

In case you didn't know, we are putting our house up for sale 6/1, with our first open house on 6/7. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't loose our shirts on the deal, and that it sells in a quick time frame.

Just chillin...

Pole has a new race car. Everyday after school, pole has dinner at 5, and then we drive him around the neighborhood in the race car until ~6pm. The faster we go, the happier he is.

Dr Update (4/23 6 month appt)

This is a bit overdue, but the pole weighed in at 24lbs 5oz and 28.5in at his 6 month checkup. He has great balance and head control. He loves to play peakaboo, pinch Ursa's face, and pull grass up from the ground by its roots.

I hate to jinx it, but he is now sleeping through the night. He typically goes to bed ~6:30, and is waking up around 5:30-5:45. Once he wakes up, he is happy to turn on his fishtank (by himself) and watch the fish swim for ~15 minutes.

His new eating schedule is:
5:45am: 8oz bottle
6:15ish: 4oz fruit + sippy w/ water
9am: 6oz bottle
9:30: 3.5oz fruit + 1 tsp dry cereal + sippy w/ water
12pm: 6oz bottle
12:30: 3.5oz veg + 1 tsp dry cereal + sippy w/ water
3pm: 6oz bottle
5pm: 4oz oatmeal/fruit+ sippy w/ water
6pm: 2-3oz solid (fruit or veg or meat/carb)+ sippy w/ water
6:30pm: 6-8oz bottle

We are still making a few tweaks. The 6pm solid just started yesterday (otherwise it seems like he can't make it to 6:30 for his bottle) The oatmeal really seems to fill him up prior to bed so I hate to switch to a veg at that point. Maybe we'll start a 3pm veg snack instead of the 6pm fruit?
