On 10/29 we took the pole to the Boston Children's Hospital to meet with a new ENT. It turns out that the poor pole has permanent fluid in his ear. Every time he catches a cold (even a minor one), the fluid gets infected and he gets a horrible ear infection. The Dr suggested that we get tubes put in his ears to drain the fluid. The tubes should fall out in a year or two. Until then, the pole is still ok to fly and get water in his ears.
The Dr (and staff) was great at the hospital. They were able to squeeze in an appt for Nov 9th. Unfortunately for the pole, he will not be able to eat from midnight until time of the surgery....he is going to be one angry little man.
Assuming all goes well, the pole will be given the green light to fly to Florida for his Aunt Sarah's baby shower.
